At the core of what we do, we help Texans drastically lower their electricity bills—sometimes as much as 40%. So we are excited to launch this year’s Refer-A-Friend contest. Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for you to pass the much-needed electricity savings opportunity on to your loved ones and friends.
Show Me the Money!
Let’s cut to the chase here. How can you win the $1,000 cash prize? Well, starting on July 25th we will record all referrals to September 8th. We will then calculate which member had the most signups with their unique referral code during that time period. That one member will receive a $1,000 prize.
Now, keep in mind this one important detail… you will receive $30 per referral. With that money, you can opt for a gift card to one of your favorite stores/brands or you can receive three free months of Energy Ogre membership.
How Does the Refer-A-Friend Process Work?
Our referral process is pretty simple. We've outlined the steps below to illustrate how you and your referrals both benefit from the program.
Step 1: Share your unique referral code with your friends and family
Step 2: You and your referral each earn 30 Ogre Points when they sign up with your unique referral code
Step 3: Redeem your Ogre Points by choosing between three months of Energy Ogre service or a $30 E-gift card
Step 4: Sit back and relax because you'll be rolling in the dough soon

Who can participate in the program?
Existing Energy Ogre residential members who are validly enrolled in and using Energy Ogre's service are eligible to participate in the program.
Where can I find my unique referral code?
Simply log in to your Energy Ogre account, where you can manage your details and account preferences.
From there, look to the menu on the left of the page for the "Invite friends" button (an example is listed below). You can also access this from the menu in the Energy Ogre app!
You can share your referral code via Facebook or email! If you’re having trouble locating your referral code, you can always contact our customer service team at 832-975-1000 or by email at membercare@energyogre.com.
Where does my family member or friend enter my referral code during sign up?
On the last step of sign up, right before the user is asked for their credit card info, there is a button as shown in the screenshot below.
Once the “I have a promo/referral code" button is pressed it will allow the user to type in the code and continue with sign up.
How long does it take to get credit?
For each referral who signs up and receives two energy bills from their provider, you will be credited 30 Ogre Points. This process takes approximately 60 days. After the Ogre Points are added to your account, you can choose between membership credits or E-gift cards.
*In regards to the 2023 contest, every referrer and referee will still each receive the 30 Ogre Points within 60 days as is usual with the normal Refer-A-Friend program.
What are 30 Ogre Points worth?
Energy Ogre will give you 30 Ogre Points for every referral. Those 30 points are redeemable for $30 worth of gift cards OR three months of membership.
Where do I redeem my points?
You can review your Ogre Points balance and redeem your points in your Energy Ogre account.
Can I get credit for people I signed up in the past?
First, we'd like to thank you for telling your family and friends about us. We're happy to give you credit for previous members you've signed up. Please reach out to us within 30 days to give us your referrals' names and their home address. Please keep in mind we can allow this for up to 10 members.
*Energy Ogre members will not be able to apply past referrals toward the 2023 Refer-A-Friend contest tally. The $1,000 prize will be won by one member who has the highest number of referrals from July 25th to September 8th.
I already paid Energy Ogre's annual fee, so the credits won't help me. Can you issue me a refund?
Yes, in this situation we can offer you a refund or credit you for the following year's renewal.
What kind of E-gift cards do you offer?
We are affiliated with Tango Card via Rewards Genius, where hundreds of gift cards to your favorite brands and stores are available.
I haven't received my E-gift card yet. What's going on?
The E-gift cards will be sent to your email address on file from Tango via Rewards Genius. Please make sure to check your spam inbox as well. If you still don't see it, email membercare@energyogre.com.
